Nahum
Track 7
Now who means comfort, comfort for Judah They never heard mercy in Jonah’s day God spared that city, but blood returned, pride returned Violence returned The Lord is slow to anger
The Lord is good to those who trust him But he sees blood, he sees cruelty He remembers the violent Nineveh was called the city of blood
Assyria ruled by fear and pain Judah had felt that heavy yoke God saw the terror, God heard the cries, Nahum saw the flood. The gates would open, the city would fall, not by chance, not by accident.
The cruel empire would answer to God This is the lesson God’s patience is not weakness God’s mercy is not permission
When violence returns, when pride returns The judge will answer Judah, lift your eyes The oppressor will not last
The Lord breaks the heavy yoke Good news comes over the mountains Peace is not pretend Peace is God
Removing evil Nahum teaches clearly Mercy was offered Violence returned
God comforted Judah by judging the cruel The Lord is good, the Lord is just He is patient, He is not mocked Good news comes over the mountains
The Lord is good, the Lord remembers
