Malachi

Faixa 12

The temple is rebuilt The altar burns again The people say the words But the heart is thin

God says I have loved you They answer how The first wound in Malachi As love forgotten now, how have you loved us?

The priests bring leftovers, the blind, the lame, the torn. They would not give a governor what they offer to the Lord. God says, where is my honor? Where is my fear? Religion stayed in motion, but reverence disappeared.

Malachi asked the question Who can endure his day? The messenger is coming The Lord will purify

He will refine the sons of Levi He will expose the heart Before the silence falls God calls them to return

They broke faith in marriage They covered wrong with prayer They wearied God with questions Where is justice? Does He care?

They robbed Him in their giving They called service vain They saw the proud prosper And wondered why obey?

Why obey? Why obey? But not all were careless. Some still feared the Lord.

God heard their conversation and wrote their names before Him. Then comes the closing warning. Remember Moses’ law. Elijah comes before the day, before the great and dreadful day.

Malachi asked the question Who can endure his day? The messenger is coming The Lord will purify

The son of righteousness will rise With healing in his wings Judgment is coming But mercy calls them home

The Old Testament closes With a warning A promise and 400 years of silence
