Miriam
Faixa 11
I was just a girl by the riverside Mama whispered I’d him hide The reeds were tall, the baskets small I watched him drift, God watched it all
Pharaoh’s daughter came that day I stepped out brave and found the way Shall I find a nurse, I said with care Mama ran her baby there
I’ve seen the hand of God In the water, in the sand In the rut, through fear and flame His promise stayed, and the sea made way
Years went by, he wore their gold A prince of Egypt, proud and bold Then one day he disappeared We thought his calling lost that year
We’d almost forgotten that baby’s cry When he walked back in with fire in his eyes He faced the throne, he raised the rod Darkness fell where the sunlight shone
The river and red, the locusts came Thunder and hail spoke his name Frogs and flies filled Pharaoh’s hall Until he learned there’s one Lord over all
I’ve seen the hand of God In the water In the sand In the rock
Through fear and flame His promise stayed And the sea made way We packed in haze, the night was wild
The sea stood up, the winds red and mild When we crossed the waves came down And freedom sank through every sound Sing to the Lord our strength, our King
He threw the horse and rider in He leads us on through sea and sand The Lord is God, His mighty hand I’ve seen the hand of God in the water
In the sand, in the rot From a basket to the sea He delivered us and me My name is Miriam
And I’ve seen him safe
