The Parables of Jesus

The Parables of Jesus

2025 • 10 tracks

Ten remastered parables that trade explanation for immersion — the sower scattering seed with no guarantee of harvest, the builders choosing rock or sand, the kingdom hidden in something as small as a seed. Simple stories that Jesus used to say the deepest things, sung the same way.

Tracks

  • A whisper in the soul, a secret in the air Something swore begins and moves everywhere The mustard seed in an open hand Almost lost the sight

Roots run deep in hidden rooms When just find the light And living folded in the door when no one sees it moved Quiet as a mercy breath, it makes the whole thing new

From lettered end to last end, from quiet end to known The kingdom moves for broken hearts until they’re not alone The kingdom of heaven, closer than my breath Blowing through the places I thought were only dead

A small beginning is holy treasure, joy the world can sell. Your kingdom in all men, Emmanuel. A treasure buried in a field Stumbled on by grace

He hides it with a racing heart And sells his former place A merchant with a thousand pearls Sees one surpassing some

It gives up all they ever own To gain the priceless one All I am, all I hold I lay before your life

And to gain the pearl that never fades I trade my other life I’ll get it all for you For you

The net is cast beneath the waste Where every current lung It gathers all, both kind and cruel, as daybreak surely calm They’re sorting on the shoreline where it’s the final hands are sure

So teach me love, a king today, and make my heart be pure The kingdom of heaven Grocer than my bread Roaming through the places

I thought were only dead I count the cross for joy and the shaking Jesus, take it all You are a treasure

Early night You are Lord of all Small to pray And sing to sing

    Your kingdom come in me

  • There’s joy that starts in heaven When a single heart is found A quiet light that fills the house And turns it all around

A shepherd counts the mountains Nine and nine in place One small voice is missing Fading into space

He leaves the open pasture Night wind on his face Till love lifts up the wanderer And carries him back safe

For the world keeps turning like no one ever knew When heaven shouts a hallelujah When one comes back to you Lost and found, your mercy’s running out to me

Over hills and rivers Through the thorns and on the sea When I couldn’t make a sound

Your kindness called me home I was lost And now I’m found

A woman lights a lantern Sweeping every side Searching for the silver that somehow slipped to hide She finds the gleam she’s missing

And neighbors hear her sing Come share my joy this evening For the coin I couldn’t bring Little things forgotten in the cracks along the floor

Your love will cross the darkness And open every door Lost and found Your mercies running out to me

Over hills and rivers Through the thorns and on the sea When I could make a sound

Your kindness called me home I was lost And now I’m found

I took my share of daylight Spent it on the night Hungry in a far land With nothing left but pride

I turned my face to homework Rehearsed a servant’s plea But you ran out to meet me And put your robe on me

A ring upon my finger Sandals on my feet Begin the feast of mercy My son is home with me

And to the field-worn brother Whose anger fills the room All I have is with you Won’t you share this joy, this tomb

Oh, lost and found Your purses running after me Over hills and rivers Through the thorns and off the sea

When I couldn’t make a sound Your kindness called me home I was lost I was lost

And now I’m found Hallelujah I’m found Heaven’s song

Heaven’s song is rising Where a single heart is found

  • A question on the hillside How do I find the light? And who is my neighbor on this narrow road tonight? A traveler drops on Jericho’s hard and empty ground Robbed and left in silence where only echoes sound

A priest walks by a distance, a Levite too moves on The shadows pass like strangers, the mercy’s window’s gone But love crosses borders, we draw with fear and pride A foreign heart grows nearer and kneels at wounded sight

Be my neighbor on the road, when I fall and when I’m cold By my bleeding with your wine and oil of soul Live me to your feast of grace Pay the cost I could not owe

Teach me mercy, son of man On the road to Jericho Samaritan, an enemy In every story told

Stops beneath the burning sun His kindness taking hold He pours the oil and wine He lifts with careful hands

He pays the keeper’s wages Till the healing understands It’s not who qualifies for love But will I be a friend

The question turns and finds my heart Begin again Be my neighbor on the road When I fall and when I’m cold

Buy my bleeding with your wine and oil of salt Lift me to your beast of grace Pay the cost I could not own Teach me mercy, son of man

On the road to Jericho. If perfect love is law fulfilled, then who can bear its weight? I need the merciful to rescue me and make me mercy’s face. So change my eyes to see the one I’d rather pass.

And make me move toward brokenness like you have moved us Be my neighbor on the road when I fall and when I’m cold Jesus pour your wine and oil on my soul Lift me with your rugged love

Pay the debt I could not know Then send me, say, and go and do On the road to Jericho

Be my neighbor on the road When I’m falling, when I’m cold Jesus, pour your wine and oil on my soul Live me with your rugged love

Pay the debt I could not know Then send me, say, and go and do On the road to Jericho

A question on the hillside turns into a light Love has crossed the border, teach me how to ride

  • In the hush between the heartbeats You are sowing in the dark Tiny mercies on the pathway In the thorns and in the heart

Some words fall on the roadway Pigeons circling, they’re gone Some spark on shallow feelings But there’s no root to hold on

Some grow among the brightest Choked by worries we obey But some fall into open ground Arise to meet the day

I’ve been the road, I’ve been the rock, I’ve been the tangled vine Make me the field that drinks the rain and gives the harvest time So you’re loving me where I can yet see

Still let it be when I sleep and rise Let mystery bring the green So you’re loving me

The farmer closes weary eyes The midnight takes his hand The earth moves quietly To head by more than he can plan

He doesn’t know the how of it Only that life will be So teach my restless soul to trust the work I cannot see So you’re loving me where I can’t yet see

Still let it be when I sleep and rise Let mystery bring the green So you’re loving me

An enemy has sown at night There’s shadow in the rose We beg to pull the sorrow up But you say let them grow

At harvest I will sort the field The truth will shine like gold So give me patient, faithful hands And keep my heart your own

So you’re loving me Cut the thorns and set the captive free When morning fires the sky And angels gleam the sea

Gather me in peace So you’re loving me So you’re loving In the hush after the heartbeat

I am open ground Word of life come down

  • There’s a quiet in the evening And a whisper in the flame I’m listening for the footsteps Calling out my name

Ten candles in the doorway Where the midnight wine your cold Some carried oil inside their hearts Some only carry gold

The cry came through the darkness Now the bridegroom draws so near Five lamps were burning steady light And five fell short of here

Keep the little light out giving Keep it warm and bright The door is open in any hour or night Keep the lamp, keep the watch

Fill it with your love till the shadows drop When the world grows still and the stars we need Yeah, yeah, let me be awake when you come again A master left his household and he said a steward’s care

To give their food in season and attend with patient prayer But some began to be the ones they promised they would feed I wanna be the faithful heart that serves in word and deed Not for the praise of passing days, but for the joy to see

The master smile and call my name You’ve watched and awaited me

Keep the lamp, keep the watch Fill it with your love till the shadows drop When the world grows still and the stars lean in Let me be awake when you come again

Like a thief without a warning Like a sudden break of life You will step across the threshold of our ordinary night Teach my soul the simple posture

Steady hands and open eyes Let my lamp be trimmed and burning When the bridegroom splits the skies Keep the lamp, keep the watch

Fill it with your love till the shadows drop If the midnight call is on the wind Find me wide awake when you come again

Keep the lamp, keep the watch Fill it with your love till the shadows drop When the world grows still and the stars lean in Let me be awake when you come again

There’s a quiet in the evening And a whisper in the flame I’m waiting with a watchful heart Till you call my name

    You

  • While the master’s away He leaves the keys A weight of gold A word like C

He called us to the courtyard place Five to one in hand Trade till our return, he said Work though by plan

Some hearts ran to market With the mercy they were shown And brought them back a double love It never was their own

Not for fear of being broken But for love of hearing well done

While the master’s awake I’ll be faithful with your life Turn the morning into bread for hungry lives When you stand in the gate And the long road ends Let me bring you what was yours multiplied again

A minute to each sermon Do business till I rain The city sent its hatred But he still would wear the name

One wrap the trust in linen Hit it from the day Master, here’s the thing you gave I kept it put away

But love is not a napkin And hope is not a hope

While the master’s awake I’ll be faithful with your life Turn the morning into bread for hungry lives When you stand in the gate And the long road ends Let me bring you what was yours multiplied again

You give according to our frame And you praise the heart that moves Fiver to its faithfulness Not numbers that you choose

But evil slothful fear Will bury grace beneath the ground So wave me to your kingdom work Till the trumpet sounds

While the master’s awake I’ll be faithful with your light Turn the morning into bread for hungry lies When you stand in the gate

And the long road ends Let me bring you what was yours multiplied again Well done

    Enter in Enter in

    Enter in Enter in

While the master’s away Enter in Teach my hands to stay Till the king comes home to reign

  • Comfort, covering the heart He looked across his crowded barn and said, I need them higher I’ll pull them down and build again, and keep the years from fire So take it easy, drink, be glad, the future’s in my hands

But midnight spoke his hidden name Tonight your soul is required What profit fills a quiet room If love is kept outside

What shall I bring beyond the veil When all I held is died Teach me to be rich toward God To break the bread and lift the cup of love

If all my bonds are ash and fro Hold me Jesus, make me rich in God The doorway split a little world, fine lemon and purple wine. And Lazarus lay by the gate with hunger in his eyes.

The tables turned at eventide, one carried to Abraham. The other cried across the gulf for water in his hand. He begged for just a drop of grace A messenger to warn

But there’s a chasm no one crossed And truth was told each morning If they won’t hear Moses and the prophets No louder sign will do

Open my ears before the night Let mercy make me new Close the distance at my gate Lay Lazarus on my heart

Break the chains of shining things That hold my hands apart Teach me to be rich toward God To set a table where you pour our love

When all my bonds are ash and soft Hold me, Jesus Make me rich in God Gold on the table fades like a spark

Love is the treasure that follows the dark

  • I drew a line along the shore where sand remembers none. I framed a dream with easy hands and called the drifting home. The sky was blue, the air was soft. I thought I’d found my place, but winds can turn, a whisper sharp and waves erase a face. I heard a voice on higher ground,

A cornerstone to stay Build your life on what I say Not castles made of sand So stone by stone I learn your words

Like music through the rain And under every trembling board Your mercy held the frame When thunder names are winged

And London shows our flaws Your faithful bare rock answers With love that keeps its long Build me on the rock of your word

Where storms break loud but hearts hold firm When rivers rise and nights run long Keep this house with living stone and song Build me on the rock of your word

I tried to brace the windows When the ocean pulled the nails I prayed to all my empty gifts To bargain with the gays

The floor gave way beneath my feet I reached for more of me But only you could hold me fast And set the footing free

I’ll write your truth on every beam Your name on every door So when the rain remembers us It finds a stronger flow

And if I ever love and send Forgetting how to stay Come call me back to higher ground And teach my heart to save

Not to Lord, Lord, in fair weather But here and do in storm together

Build me on the rock of your word Where storms break loud

But hearts hold firm When rivers rise And nights run long Keep this house

With a living stone and song Fill me on the rock of your world If love is only sand and shine Then let it learn your faithful time

If ears come knocking at the friend I’ll answer with your holy name The wind and waves still hear your voice We stand because you gave the choice

Build me on the rock of your word Where storms break loud

But hearts hold firm through every flood And final dawn Keep this house with living stone and song Build me on the rock

    You’re the world

  • I saved you a seat At the table tonight Candles and white Your name in the light

The king has sent the letters out The doors are open wide The music’s on, the meal is warm The joy is hard to hide

The fields and rings and business calls Can pull a heart away I’m standing by the doorway now I only want to say

Say yes to the light Say yes to the love

Step on the garment Grace has sewn for us Hold out your hands Let all the old fall off

Come take your place My heart is at the banquet of God Say yes to the light They wandered in from highways where the lonely evenings start

The broken and the beautiful, the aching every heart He looked at me and smiled like dawn I’ve kept a place for you He wrapped me in white mercy

And I finally felt it true No warning and no ladders Just a door that opens wide No payment but your presence

And the joy of being bright

Say yes to the light Say yes to the love

Slip on the garment grace has sewn for us Hold out your hands, let all the old fall off Come take your place, my heart is at the banquet of God Say yes to the life

Don’t let the excuses steal the song from your mouth Don’t let a busy field trade forever for now If love is calling, let it carry you in Where every no you ever heard

Is answered with commencing Say yes to the light Say yes to the love Slip on the garment grace has sown for us

I’ll meet you there Where every tear is soft Come take your place Our names are on the banquet of God

Say yes To the light I saved you a seat At the table tonight

Candles in white Your name in the light

  • There’s a hush across the water A promise in the rain I have walked along your lonely road Listening for your name

You said the night would open And the sun of man would rise With angels like a river And a mercy in His eyes

You’d gather all the nations And uncover what we’ve sown And love would speak the truest word I’ve always called you Lord

His love is more than feeling More than fires that fade Then teach my hands the everyday Make mercy how I’m made

When the King says, come you play I will never be the same When love crosses over, glory calls my name In the quiet of your kindness, though my fear becomes a flame

I will know you when I hear you call my name You were hungry at my doorway Thirsty at the well A stranger needing shelter from the weather where I dwell

You were naked, sick in prison, and I almost missed your face But whatever you did to these, you counted it as grace If faith is more than language, more than songs I sing Let my life be bread and wine to you, my little King

When the King says, come, you bless I will answer to that name When love lifts the broken morning And calls my name

Hold me steady in your goodness Through the sorrow and the rain I will know you when I hear you call my name There’s a net beneath the water

Drawing every heart to shore There’s a wedding in the morning Where the tears will be no more Dress my soul in righteousness

The garment grace of soul Take my hand and lead me in I’m finally coming home When the King says, come, you’re blessed

I will answer to your name When love rides forever And calls my name Let me live the love of heaven

Mercy, truth, and grace Till the trumpet breaks the silence And the world is not the same When love comes in quiet glory and calls my name

There’s a hush across the water I can almost hear the flame I know you when I hear you Call my name
