Forgotten Virtues

Forgotten Virtues

2026 • 14 tracks

Contentment. Reverence. Meekness. Fidelity. Fourteen tracks that name the character traits modern life has quietly discarded — not as nostalgia, but as confrontation. Recorded as duets between Marcio and Becky on several tracks, this is a family reclaiming out loud what an entire generation forgot to teach.

  • Have you noticed? Have you wondered why?

Some words we’re missing Right before our eyes Honor, reverence, meekness, temperance Fidelity, contentment, repentance, holiness

Where did they go? Where did they go? They used to live at home They used to walk to school

They showed up in the stories That taught a child the rules Now the words sound strange Like relics on a shelf

And when the words are gone We cannot name ourselves

Have you noticed? Have you wondered why?

Did the words just vanish, or did we wave goodbye? Have you noticed, can you see the cost? When virtue loses language, something holy has been lost. Watch an old movie

Hear an old man speak Read a mother’s letter From another kind of weak They knew shame was not oppression

They knew patience was not fear They knew no could be a mercy They knew God was near Then the room got louder

Then the scream came near Then every private hunger Found a bright frontier If no one teaches honor

Why rise before the old? If no one teaches reverence Why tremble at the throne? If weakness sounds like weakness

Why would the proud man then devise her only feelings? Why stay until the end? Have you noticed? Have you wondered why?

Did the words just vanish? Or did we wave goodbye? Have you noticed? Can you see the cost when virtue loses language?

Something holy has been lost. Not nostalgia for a shiny yesterday. Those words used to shape how we lived our days. The Bible says we drift when truth is not retained.

We rename the sin, then wonder why we changed. Teach the words again. Put them back at home. Sing them in the church.

Live them when alone. Honor, reverence, meekness, temperance, fidelity, contentment, repentance, holiness. Have you noticed? Have you wondered why

Forgotten virtues Are not forgotten by God? Remember the words Recover the ways

Return to the Lord Restore the ancient past Mm-mm-mm-mm Mm-mm-mm-mm

  • Where is everyone? There are people everywhere So many voices in the room But no one really cares

Why can’t I talk to you anymore You are always somewhere else Your hands are here beside me But your attention is not

Where are you? Why can’t you hear me? Why do I feel invisible? When you are sitting near me

Everybody tells their story But no one asks for mine Everybody shares their feelings But has no listening time

We know what strangers posted We know what happened today But we do not know the people Who live a few feet away

I wanna know your story I want to know your plans I want to help with what you carry And understand where I can stand

I want to remember what you told me And ask how it turned out I want you to know you matter Not only when you cry out

I will listen I will stay I will learn your joys And help you through the pain

Put the screen down, look at someone near Ask about their life And stay long enough to hear Interest is love paying inattention

Let it begin with us Mmm

  • Contentment had a name When enough was still enough At tables and in classroom halls We thank the Lord for love

But every shining window now Says we should have more So crowded hands and hungry hearts Feel poorer than before

Christ is enough for me Christ is enough for me Daily bread and grateful eyes Make the empty rich and free

The eye is never satisfied The feet will never rest, it turns a gift into a lack It makes a curse look blessed But godliness with quiet joy

Is treasure without rust Teach my wanting heart again To worship, wait and trust

Christ is enough for me Christ is enough for me Daily bread and grateful eyes Make the empty rich and free

The world says more will heal the ache Christ says come and rest What can glitter give the soul When God has given best?

Christ is enough for me Christ is enough for me Daily bread and grateful eyes Make the empty rich and free

Not my wanting, not my pride Christ be treasure deep inside Oh, oh, oh, oh

  • Honor had a name, at home and in the school Children learn to bow the heart Before they learn to rule Father, mother, silver hair

Were not pushed aside God had spoken, we were taught To hear before our pride Now the word is wearing thin

Changed by noise and dressed as sin Honor, come home again

Teach our proud hearts how to bend Long life walks where honor stays Lord, restore the ancient ways

Now respect is called a change Correction sounds like hate Children lose the ancient path When no one guards the gate

Rise before the aged head That is what the scripture said Honor, honor, come home again

Teach our proud hearts how to bend Long life walks where honor stays Lord, restore the ancient ways

The Bible did not whisper this It wrote it on the door Mock the ones who came before And wisdom speaks no more

Honor, honor, come home again Teach our proud hearts how to bend Long life walks where honor stays Lord, restore the ancient way

Honor the father, honor the mother Honor the old ones, honor the Lord Give us honor, give us grace For your image in each face

  • I remember when repentance Lived among the ones I knew I heard humble hearts admitting, Lord, I was wrong before you In our homes and in our churches, turning back was not a shame

Truth was met with grace and mercy, and forgiveness followed pain Their repentant hearts kept teaching mine But that virtue slowly faded We explained and carried on

And as fewer hearts were turning I learned to hide when I was wrong Now I build a case around myself And guard what you have asked me to change

I name the pressure I name everyone but me Enough is enough, this ends here Repentance hurts Because the excuse must die But I would rather lose my pride

Then keep this distance from you Isaiah says my sins have made a separation Between me and my God But John says if I confess my sins

sins. You are faithful and just. You forgive me and cleanse me from unrighteousness. And David says a broken heart, a heart that turns to you, you will not despise. Teach me to repent again to lay my pride aside to confess without explaining and bring my wrong into the light to receive correction and remain near to you not for one

emotional night, but every day I live. I choose a life of repentance before the Lord who sees me. David wrote when he stopped hiding, and finally confessed. You lifted all the guilt he carried, and brought him near again. I said, I will confess. My transgressions to the Lord, and you forgave the guilt of my sin.

  • Temperance Temperance had a name When hunger heard the word no Children learn to wait and pray

Before the screams could glow But now the hand is always full And still the heart is low The shiny little screams

That came to help our lives Now keep our cravings near And feed our restless eyes Not everyone is at liberty

Some pleasures chain the free You rule my heart, oh Lord

Teach my soul to say no Fruit of the Spirit, govern me Don’t let the flesh rule

Fathers scroll in silent rooms Mothers drift away Children learn by watching us How not to kneel and pray

A city with no wall will fall A soul without restraint loses all Through my heart, oh Lord

Teach my soul to say no Fruit of the Spirit, govern me Don’t let the flesh rule

The world says, take it now Christ says, deny yourself and live If every craving owns the throne What room is left to give?

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh Rule my heart, oh Lord Teach my soul to say no Fruit of the Spirit, govern me

Don’t let the flesh rule Not my hunger, not my will Christ be Lord and make me still You

  • Compassion used to stop us Before the tears were dry We learned to move towards sorrow Not quarrel and pass it by

But something tender left us somewhere along the way We like to speak of caring, but not to stop and stay

Look again Someone is carrying sorrow Come closer

To not leave love for tomorrow We send a word of comfort Then return to our own lives We say that we are praying

While the lonely waits beside us Christ did not love from a distance He touched the ones cast aside Mercy sat beside the wounded

And refused to pass them by

Look again Someone is carrying sorrow Come closer

to not leave love for tomorrow. Compassion is a forgotten virtue But it is not beyond return We can still choose to notice

We can still carry the burden Let it begin with us Open our eyes Help us cross the room

Help us carry the weak And make your mercy visible Love must come closer Love must remain

    You

  • Fidelity Fidelity once meant a promise carried through, yes remained, yes. When feelings were not new Love was more than fire

More than what we felt Covenant meant staying When leaving served ourselves

Stay with the vow When the feeling fades Love keeps its word Through ordinary days

Stay with the one God joined to you Fidelity is love Still choosing to be true We call and skip freedom, and restlessness brave

But scripture still tells us, let your yes remain The faithful may suffer, yet still keep their word What God has joined together, let no one tear apart Stay with the vow, when the feeling fades

Love keeps its word, through ordinary days Stay with the one God joined to you Fidelity is love Still choosing to be true

When the heart is tired When the road is plain Lord, teach us covenant Teach us to remain

We’ve kept your word to save us You did not turn away Teach us to love with faithfulness And choose it every day

Stay with the vow When the feeling fades Love keeps its word Through ordinary days

Stay with the one God Joined to you Fidelity is love Still choosing to be true

Teach us to stay Teach us to stay faithful and true

  • Tenderness is leaving, one sharp word at a time We call the coldness honesty and cruelty a stronger mind We learn to speak in weapons and laugh when someone bleeds Then wonder why the gentle heart has nowhere left to breathe

Be gentle, someone is already breaking Speak softly, someone is carrying pain Sarcasm passes for wisdom And anger passes for strength

We wound the ones beside us Then call the damaged fate Christ did not crush the bruised reed Or turn the weak away

He held the child, restored the fallen And gave the ashamed a name Strength does not need to wound Truth does not need to sneer

Love can lower its furnace and choose to draw near Lower the weapon, soften the word Notice the bruised, let mercy be heard Tenderness is not weakness or fear dressed as love

It is strength made gentle In the hands of God In the hands of God

  • Holy Oh Holy Oh Holy Oh Holy Oh

Holy Oh Holy Oh Holy Oh Holy Oh

Oh Oh Oh Reverends had a name, at home and in the school. Children learn that God is near, and man was not the rule.

Now we laugh at holy things And call the fear of God old Then we wonder why our hearts Feel careless, loud and cold

The fear of God makes wisdom rise and opens blind and foolish eyes. Holy fear, return to me

Bend my heart and let me see God is not a passing sound Take my shoes off holy ground

When the word is redefined Ooh, all becomes a thing we lose Ooh, every throne becomes our own And every path we choose

Teach our children, teach us too God is holy, God is true Holy Spirit, turn to me

Bend my heart and let me see God is not a passing sound Take my shoes off holy ground

The Bible did not hide this truth The wise begin with fear Mercy calls the proud man down And draws the humble near Holy Spirit, return to me

Holy fear, return to me Bend my heart and let me see Bend my heart and let me see God is not a passing sound

Dancing sound Take my shoes off Holy ground Holy God

Holy God Humble me Holy ground, let me see Holy

  • I want it now I don’t want to waste One more game, one more song One more hour awake

The screen keeps calling And I keep giving in Little by little I forget how to say no

Not today No, I will not be mastered No, I don’t have to obey

Jesus, you are better Better than what I want right now I choose you

Friends and family with me But eyes are somewhere else Your word is waiting But I keep choosing myself

I say just one more minute Then another hour is gone Lord, teach my heart to stop Paul said

I will not be mastered Your spirit gives self-control Strength to turn away Strength to close the screen

Strength to wait and pray To choose what is better Again and again No, I will not be mastered

No, I do not have to obey

Jesus, you are better Better than what I want right now I choose you

Tonight I put the screen away Tonight I let the silence stay Tonight I open up your word Tonight I listen and obey

Self-control can grow again Let it start in us Teach us to wait Teach us to say no

Teach us to choose you More and more

  • Information replaced intimacy We know news but not heart We see people every day still remain So far apart

Names and pictures Posts and plans We know profile’s not the person So much known, so little shared

So much seen, no one there Come closer, stay longer

Let someone truly know Information tells us something

But love comes closer We send words, we tap hearts We answer fast, then move on We know what happened, not what hurts

Love needs time, love needs presence The Word became flesh and lived among us. God came near. Jesus sat at tables. He heard pain. He wept with friends. He called each name. Truth became presence Love came close

Close enough To touch I will stop I will listen

I will stay I will ask No quick answer No escape

Tell me truth I will wait Come closer Stay longer

Let someone truly know Information tells us something

But love comes closer information replaced intimacy but love can bring it back

    come closer stay longer

    come closer Come closer

    Come closer Come closer

    You

  • We open up our homes, but guard our lives We fill the room with laughter, but keep the heart inside Food is on the table, we talk about the news We keep the evening easy and hide what we are walking through

Shared life, shared prayer, shared burdens Shared songs This is fellowship, this is where we belong We do not only meet in Christ, in Christ our lives are shared

We sing beside each other On Sunday morning Then the guitar stays silent And every voice goes home

We promise we will pray Then carry burdens alone We still call it fellowship, but often stop at friendship Shed life, shed prayer, shed burdens, shed songs

This is fellowship This is where we belong We do not only meet in Christ In Christ our lives are shared

Acts 2.42 says they devoted themselves to teaching and fellowship, to breaking bread and prayer. They shared their days They carried every need They lived their faith together

Lord, bring that life to us Shared life Shared prayer Shared burdens

    Shared songs

This is fellowship This is where we belong We do not only meet in Christ In Christ our lives are shared

Open more than our homes Lord, open our lives

Open more than our homes Lord, open our lives

  • You were taught to answer soft To give the other way Now the loud man takes the room And calls you weak all day

Not weak hands Not timid eyes Meekness is strength made wise On the road they cut you off

At work they push ahead Grace looks foolish to the proud Till every word is said Not weak hands, not timid eyes

Meekness is strength made wise Blessed are the meek ones, they will inherit the earth. Power under the hand of God is strength of holy worth. Jesus had all heaven’s right

Yet he bowed beneath the rod Not because his strength was small But because he trusted God Teach our children, teach us this

Strength can kneel and still resist Blessed are the meek ones, they will inherit the earth Power under the hand of God His strength of holy worth

The world says, take it, prove your name Christ says, lay your weapons down The meek do not lose the kingdom They receive it as their crown

Blessed are the meek ones Blessed are the meek ones

Blessed are the meek ones Blessed are the meek ones

They will inherit the earth Power under the hand of God Is strength of holy worth Meekness is strength under the Lord

Meekness is strength, trusting his word. Make us meek and make us strong in the kingdom of your Son. You
